Grafton ghost town

Grafton Ghost town which is close to Zion National Park was a fascinating stop on our road trip, you can easily drive past the turning as we did twice, when we eventually found the road it went from tarmac to gravel and earth, luckily only about 2 miles from the main road. There are only a handful of buildings, recognisable as the location of the filming of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. The graveyard is fascinating and I have included an information board which gives some insight into this community. Once again I hope you like the pictures.

Hackberry. Route 66.

Stopped off at Hackberry General Store on Route 66. Amazing old vehicles with beautiful rust colours, the oasis with the poignant message on the slate tablet, the store front and the signs you see along the 66 roadside that keep you amused as you drive. I love Route 66.

Canyonlands

Staying in Moab enabled us to travel into Canyonlands north entrance and then a move to The Grist Mill in Monticello and explore the southern entrance into Canyonlands. Views every few hundred yards. Fantastic.

Ghost town cat

Walking through a ghost town and felt eyes were watching me, I looked over to a shack and there was an old cart with a cat lying on it. The cats eyes were incredible. We were out in the hot sunshine, this cat had the right idea lying in the shade.

Mesa Verde

We drove the switchback roads 8500 ft up the side of the Mesa Verde plateau to the accommodation. The first evening watching deer and wild horses while sat on our balcony and then the sun set over the far hillside.

The Moon and Zion

The Moon and Zion

The Moon and Zion

We were staying in a hotel close to Zion National Park surrounded by mountain ranges, I was sat by the pool one evening, looked over to see the moon rising between the mountain range and the setting sun turning the mountains a bright orange. I tried to get the same shot with the full moon a few days later but the conditions and moon position just wasn’t as interesting.
