Route 66 and rainbow

Route 66 rainbow.

Route 66 rainbow.

After a day spent in the Petrified Forest and Painted Desert National Parks. We drove to the end of the road where Route 66 used to intersect, the only markings that showed where 66 used to be was the telephone posts that lined the road, all other signs of the Mother Road had disappeared beneath the grasses and scrub-land. As we stopped to take some pictures huge storm clouds were gathering in the distance and then a strange looking rainbow appeared, I managed to shoot 4 images before the colours disappeared.

Hi Sue, yes it was quite an odd rainbow, virtually all day we were surrounded by huge rain storms but luckily they all seemed to miss us, we stopped at the Route 66 intersection and this odd rainbow appeared just behind the posts marking the Mother road, as usual a few rushed pictures and it disappeared. On the 100+ miles back to Flagstaff there were incredible storm clouds all around us but nowhere to stop and take them.
