The object in the background is the Brighton old pier. Huge storms a few days ago caused part of the structure to collapse and people were waiting for the remaining ironwork to fall into the sea. It didn’t.

I was down in Brighton for a few days earlier in the week and the weather was terrible, 70mph winds and rain but the lighting and clouds were changing by the minute. I took over 200 pictures of similar subjects but the clouds and lighting changed dramatically. I am hoping my camera will keep on working as the sea spray was incredible but then again the rain probably washed it all off. There you go always look for positives in every situation. The pier was still standing but this weekend it is supposed to be worse so I think there could be some more bits will fall off. Ian.
Hi thanks for the comment. I spent a few days in Brighton and the weather was terrible, 70 mph winds and rain. The up side of it was the conditions changed rapidly so the picture opportunities were fantastic, most of the time I was soaking wet and frozen, the camera was covered in salty sea spray but luckily the rain washed it off (positive point). Part of the pier was destroyed and everyone was waiting for the rest to collapse but it was still standing when I left, we have some very big storms starting now so it will be interesting if it survives the weekend. Ian.

Great images, Ian…I have been saying I must get to see this place again for the last 6 months! When the weather calms down a bit….

Let’s hope it doesn’t disappear altogether before I get to see it!
I am in love with the second one. What power in the image (and the weather!)
